Fiona Duxbury Spends a Year in South Africa

The guest speaker at our weekly meeting on Thursday 22 August was Fiona Duxbury. Just over 12 months ago, Carnforth Rotary gave her a donation to help fund a university gap year project in South Africa.

Fiona returned home last week and gave members and guests an informative illustrated talk. She was brimming with enthusiasm about teaching English and music to a wide age range of children, as well as the experiences she had whilst in South Africa.

Fiona was fortunate to raise more money than she needed which meant that she could leave her personal trombone in Africa for use by the local children. Carnforth Rotarians believe that our donation was money well spent.
