Carnforth Young Photographer Winners

At the beginning of August, Carnforth Rotary launched a Young Photographer Competition with the theme ‘My Summer Activities’. The age range for entrants was between 7 to 14 years with prizes for Primary and Secondary ages. We were delighted to receive 14 entries covering landscapes, seascapes, insects, still life and animals.
The Primary school winning photos are shown below. The first prize of £25 was awarded to Calum Menzies-Lees, a pupil at Carnforth Christ Church Primary. Calum’s entry was “Lockdown Railway Station June 2020”. The second prize of £15 was awarded to Fabian House, a pupil at Silverdale St. John’s Primary. Fabian’s entry was “Tiger at Chester Zoo”. The Senior first prize of £25 was awarded to Isobel Oram who is home schooled. Isobel’s entry was “Sailboarder”. The second prize of £15 was awarded to Amy Pinder. Amy’s entry was “Summer Fun”.
It is hoped to run this competition in 2021 when schools will be in session and publicity will attract more entries.
We would like to thank all those children who participated, our 2 judges, Ken McGrath and John Bassinder, and Caroline Charnley, owner of Kitty Brown Boutique in Carnforth, for kindly agreeing to be the ‘drop off’ point for the photographs.
We will display the Secondary age prizewinning photos as soon as we have received them
