The first ever Carnforth Rotary Junior Schools’ Choir Competition, which was very kindly sponsored by THE PETER JACKSON CHARITY, and opened by Fiona Duxbury, took place at Carnforth High School on Friday 24th November.
The competition was well attended by six local schools, St Wilfrid’s Halton, Wilson’s Endowed – Over kellet, Carnforth Christ Church, Arkholme, Bolton-le-Sands and Carnforth North Rd., along with parents, grandparents and siblings.
It was a joy to listen to the 6 choirs who were absolutely fabulous, and posed an extremely difficult task for the judges. However, after careful deliberation, the winners were announced as:
First Place – Carnforth North Road Primary School.
Second Place – Arkholme C of E Primary School
Third Place – Carnforth Christ Church C of E Primary School
The High Sheriff of Lancashire, Robert Webb, and Rotary District 1190 Assistant Governor, Richard Attenborough, presented the winner’s shield.
Presentation of certificates and cheques to all three winning schools, and participation certificates were given to all children by Carnforth Rotary President, Kath Bromilow MBE.
Well done and thank you to everyone who made it such a huge success. We are already thinking ahead to next year’s competition.
