At our weekly meeting on 16 January, Carnforth Rotarians hosted Charlotte and Adrian from North West Cancer Research, an organisation dedicated to funding world-class cancer research tailored to our region’s needs since 1948. Our members were given the delicate task of extracting DNA from their Kiwi Fruit and Strawberries.
Armed with test tubes, filters, funnels, strawberries, kiwis, washing up liquid, salt and ethanol, the ‘intrepid scientists’ had to follow instructions to extract DNA from their allocated fruit. The process was carried out most enthusiastically by our members. The photos show the ‘stars’ of the show! Everyone agreed that it was a most interesting evening and we learned a lot.
