Thank you to all who made the Health and Fun Day at Carnforth High School a resounding success.
The event was officially opened by MP David Morris and Carnforth Mayor, Pat Wooff, along with Carnforth Rotary President John Blowes. We even got David on the smoothie bike!
Local emergency services, consisting of a Fire engine, Police Accident Team and Blood Bikes North West were both interesting and educational. The public were given the opportunity of trying on uniforms and scrutinising the equipment used.
The Iron Lung (made by Rotarian Roger Frank from Upper Eden), promoted the Rotary ‘End Polio Now’ Campaign and several people got into it to imagine what it was like for polio sufferers.
The wide range of information available, along with Pilates and Martial Arts demonstrations to encourage a healthier lifestyle, was tremendous. Healthy eating was being promoted by Morecambe Bay chefs, who gave away samples and recipes for delicious salads and easy muesli breakfasts.
It was a superb experience for all who turned out. The stallholders enjoyed networking with each other, demonstrating skills, and encouraging the public to take part in various activities as well as having medical check ups. A number of the stallholders and visitors visited the Face Painting station, where butterflies, celtic designs and pirates added another dimension to the day.
