Wrap Up Lancashire Donates Winter Coats to Those In Need

At our meeting on 25th July, we were joined by members of the Rotary Clubs of Accrington, Lancaster and Lancaster Loyne, Inner Wheel ladies and several other guests.

PDG Malcolm Baldwin and his wife Jacquie from Accrington Rotary inspired us with their enthusiasm to get involved with their project Wrap Up Lancashire. This was set up last Summer in collaboration with the charity Hands On London where 7 Rotary Clubs in South East Lancashire worked together with local charities to run a “pop-up shop” for 6 weeks that ran from the first weekend in October. The project was to collect donations of unwanted coats and winter items from 20 designated locations within the area for distribution to charities looking after the homeless and needy children. Last year over 3000 items were donated and 1000 service hours were committed by Rotarians and other volunteers.

Carnforth Rotary hopes to get involved in a similar project this year collaborating with our local Rotary clubs of Lancaster, Lancaster Loyne and Lunesdale and other community groups.
