The Rotary Club of Carnforth forms part of Rotary International, a worldwide association
of Rotary Clubs whose mission is to provide service to others, promote high ethical
standards and to advance world understanding, goodwill and peace through its fellowship
of business, professional and community leaders.
The Club has four avenues of service which are Rotary’s philosophical cornerstone and are the foundation on which club activity is based. Club Service focuses on strengthening fellowship and the effective functioning of the club. Vocational Service encourages Rotarians to serve others through their vocations and to practice high ethical standards. Community Service encompasses the projects and activities the club undertakes to improve life in our community. International Service encompasses actions taken to expand Rotary’s humanitarian reach around the globe and to promote world understanding and peace.
The Rotary motto is “Service Above Self” which conveys the humanitarian sprit of over 1.2 million Rotarians throughout the world.
Carnforth Rotary Club has 40 members representing a diverse range of occupations. At present our club membership is entirely male, although females have been permitted to join the Rotary International Fellowship since 1989. Carnforth Rotary Club has an active Inner Wheel Club, which female relatives and spouses of Rotarians are strongly encouraged to join. Click here to download our current brochure.
Prospective members are adults of good character and good business or professional reputation, who hold or have held executive position with discretionary authority in any worthy and recognised business or profession.

and are required to attend 60% of our meetings. Where members are unable to attend

The Carnforth Rotary Club holds weekly meetings at The Longlands Hotel, Tewitfield near the market town of Carnforth, close to Junction 35 of the M6 motorway.
We have a varied programme of guest speakers intermingled with one Business meeting a month for committee work. The Club is subdivided into 4 committees each dealing with an avenue of service. Members are allocated to one of these committees which work on their own designated projects at local, national and international level, and collectively raise funds for charity.
Carnforth and it's immediate vicinity has it's own unique charm and appeal. The area has a rich and fascinating history. The town is overlooked by Warton Crag nature reserve and is located near the ancestral home of George Washington, first President of the United States.
The local railway station has been immortalised by the 1945 film, Brief Encounter that starred Trevor Howard and Celia Johnson and has been recently restored.
We contribute 50p a week on top of the meal cost and raffle a bottle of wine. The raffle proceeds are used to fund the hosting of biannual visits by members from the Rotary Club of Woudrichem, in the Netherlands.
