Rotary Club of Carnforth

Carnforth Rotarians are enthusiastic, fun-loving and active volunteers who get together most weeks of the year for dinner, fellowship and professional networking. We have a varied programme of informative guest speakers and enjoy social events such as ladies nights, day trips to local attractions and theatre trips.

Our members give their time and talents to serve the local and international community, in order to help those less fortunate. The Rotary motto is “Service Above Self” which conveys the humanitarian sprit of over 1.2 million Rotarians throughout the world.

Rotary is a non-religious, non-political organisation that is one of the largest non-governmental providers of humanitarian, educational and cultural support programmes in the world. Rotarians encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and help to build goodwill and peace.

Community and Vocational (Com/Voc) Service is the traditional and well-known face of Rotary. This covers help and advice to the aged, handicapped, the infirm, young people and those in need, either directly or through local charitable organisations.  Environmental projects are also part of community service.

The Com/Voc Service Committee is responsible for organising the following events:

Store Collections - for local and Rotary Charities

Sponsor a local student for the RYPEN course - this 5 day course is held at Castle Head Field Studies Centre, near Grange-over-Sands, Cumbria which targets 14-15 year old children who would benefit from challenging outdoor activities to develop team building skills.

Sponsor a local disabled Serviceman to take part in a Calvert Trust course - this week long course is held at the Calvert Trust Centre, near Keswick, Cumbria and provides a challenging activity break for disabled adults.
