Carnforth Rotarians are enthusiastic, fun-loving and active volunteers who get together most weeks of the year for dinner, fellowship and professional networking. We have a varied programme of informative guest speakers and enjoy social events such as ladies nights, day trips to local attractions and theatre trips.
Our members give their time and talents to serve the local and international community, in order to help those less fortunate. The Rotary motto is “Service Above Self” which conveys the humanitarian sprit of over 1.2 million Rotarians throughout the world.
Rotary is a non-religious, non-political organisation that is one of the largest non-governmental providers of humanitarian, educational and cultural support programmes in the world. Rotarians encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and help to build goodwill and peace.

Rotary is a large and diverse organisation, that provides individuals with the power
to help those in need. There are countless opportunities to make a difference to
those less fortunate than ourselves.
The Rotary motto is “Service Above Self”.
The 2011-2012 theme chosen by Rotary International President Kalyan Bannerjee from the Rotary Club of Vapi in India is “Reach within to Embrace Humanity”.
There are five Avenues of Service. Club Service, Community Service, International Service, Vocational Service and New Generations Service that help us to enjoy life and to be good citizens.
Club Service focuses on strengthening fellowship and ensuring the smooth functioning of Rotary clubs.
Community Service and Vocational Service combine to make local communities better places for us to live and work.
International Service permits us to partner with clubs in other countries and on different continents to make the world a better place to live with an improved opportunity for world understanding, goodwill and peace.
New Generations Service acknowledges the positive change implemented by youth and young adults involved in leadership development activities, community and international service, and exchange programs that enrich and foster world peace and cultural understanding.
Friendship
In an increasingly complex world, Rotary maintains a simple philosophy
- make friends in your own community and throughout the world.
Giving back to the community
Through Rotary, service to local and overseas communities
is well organised and rewarding. If you like helping others, here is your chance
to do something worthwhile and make a real difference.
Fun and entertainment
Rotary is fun... a lot of fun. Every Rotary club and district
arranges parties and activities that provide a welcome distraction to a hectic business
life.
Business development
Networking opportunities are endless. Rotary consists of a cross-section
from every business community and its members come from all walks of life. Rotarians
help each other and collectively help others.
Personal growth and development
Membership of Rotary develops leadership, public speaking,
social, business, personal and vocational skills as well as improving cultural awareness.
Continued learning
Clubs organise programmes and weekly meetings to keep members informed
about what is going on in the community, the country, and the world. Each meeting
provides an opportunity to listen to different speakers on a variety of current topics.
Travel opportunities
Every Rotarian is welcome - even encouraged - to attend any of
the 33,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical regions. This bond creates
an instant friendship wherever you are in the world. Many a Rotarian in need of a
local doctor, lawyer, hotel, dentist, or other expertise while travelling has found
assistance through Rotary.
