Junior Technology at St Luke’s Primary School

On Wednesday, Pete and Linda Lambson from Carnforth Rotary, along with Mark Rowland from Lunesdale Rotary, visited St Luke’s School, Slyne with Hest. They worked with over 30 Yr 6 pupils who were given the task of making a wooden frame and designing a filter that would remove dirt from water. The pupils had to measure the wood carefully, before using hacksaws, bench hooks, card corners and glue guns to build the frame. In the afternoon they were given different amounts of sand, grit and stones, which they used for their filters. and The results were demonstrated to the class, who then had to think about the combination they would use in their final filters to produce the best quality and amount of water.

It was a very successful day and the judges had a difficult task to determine the winners.
