Water Filtration Problem solved at Arkholme

Thursday 28th June, Carnforth Rotarians: Pete and Linda Lambson, along with Ivor Davies and Anthony Chick, descended on Arkholme Primary School. There they set the children off, working in teams, with a task to construct a cuboid frame using square wood, card corners and glue guns. Once these had been assembled the children created water filters using set amounts of sand, grit and stones, which were demonstrated to show the differing water flows and clarity. The final challenge was for the children to think about the results they had seen and then using this knowledge create a filter of their own. The winning team being the one with the clearest and largest amount of water collected at the end. A fabulous day was had by all.
