Peace Pole at Arkholme

As part of Arkholme School’s 150th Anniversary, Carnforth Rotary offered to fund a Peace Pole.

After much anticipation, the wait was finally over and the brand new Peace Pole was installed on Tuesday 12th June. All RotaKids members contributed to a very competent presentation to mark the day’s celebrations by reciting a selection of poems, which were very ably compered by Tallulah.  Following this, our District Foundation Chairman David Simpson explained the significance of a Peace Pole throughout the World, then, with the assistance of RotaKids, unveiled it.  Four languages  to promote peace, were chosen by the school and local community  these were English, French, Spanish and Chinese. The occasion finished with a dedication and blessing from Rev. Michael Hampson.

Tea and biscuits brought the afternoon’s events to a close.
