Guest Speaker, Sarah Garmin from the Bendrigg Trust

Our speaker on 14th March was Sarah Garmin, the senior Fundraising and Marketing Officer at the Bendrigg Trust. The Bendrigg Trust was established in 1977 by John and Mary Kinross as the Northern Association for Common Care. It was renamed the Bendrigg Trust in 1988 after the name of the old hunting lodge where it is based in Old Hutton, near Kendal.

The trust is a 60 bed centre set in 15 acres of grounds that offers day and short residential outdoor activity courses for people who suffer from physical, sensory and learning disabilities. Activities include canoeing; orienteering, zip wire, climbing wall, archery and a tube slide.

Approximately 170 volunteers and paid staff look after 4,000 visitors to the centre every year. The centre is funded by a combination of donations and course fees.
