Carnforth Rotary Celebrates Rotary’s 114th Birthday

Carnforth Rotary is holding a World’s Greatest Meal event at 6.45pm at our regular weekly meeting on Thursday 21 February to celebrate Rotary’s 114th birthday on 23 February. The venue is the Longlands Hotel. Entertainment will be provided by local vocalist Rachel Mercer. Rotarians, members of Inner Wheel and their guests are invited to join us to raise funds for Polio eradication. Every $1 raised will be matched on a 2 for 1 basis by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Cost of the two course meal including tea/coffee is ¬£15. Please see our events page to select your meal choice and then email this to our Secretary, Linda Lambson by Wednesday 20th February.

The World’s Greatest Meal funding initiative is the Joint Project of the RC of Cairns Sunrise, D.9550, Australia and the RC of Hounslow, D.1140, England. PDG Mukesh Malhotra and PP Susanne Rea set up this idea in 2014 to help end polio around food, fun and fundraising‚Ķ

Rotary Founder: Paul Harris

Rotary was founded on 23 February 1905 by Chicago lawyer, Paul Harris. Our organisation of 1.2 million men and women is spread across nearly 200 countries throughout the world where our members work hard to do good for our fellow humans. We continue in our goal to eradicate Polio which is within our grasp as the disease is now only endemic in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
